2021-2022 Senior Speeches

I have learned how I work, how to ask for help, how to be confident, and how to believe in myself. I now know that I am not “less than.” I just learn a little differently. And that is more than OK.

When I go to college, not only will I have a new beginning for myself but also my family. I have been fortunate enough to have this opportunity my parents never had and I want to make the most out of it. I know I can do this.

Now I never say I can’t do anything and I will always try my best in everything I do. Seeing my sister has inspired me in many ways.

I went from all C’s and a few B’s throughout middle school to straight A’s. As a result of my perseverance I received acceptances to almost every school I applied to, academic scholarships, and best of all an acceptance to my dream school; Royal Holloway University of London.

I also learned that sometimes it’s ok to stop and take in the time that you have, not only to clear your head, but to also give you a break so it doesn’t feel as though you are burdening yourself. So now, if I’m ever feeling stressed or anxious about something, not only do I know that I have people I can go to, but it's ok to take a break and just pause for a moment.

I have met some great people here, some I would've never expected and I hope to continue being close with them beyond high school. I am grateful to everyone in the community for helping me make my last two years of high school ones I can look back fondly on. Not only am I grateful for the Husky community but I am also ready to finish out my senior year with a bang.

While some friendships are stronger than others, each has helped me realize that I do belong in this community. I've been inspired to fight against my social anxiety and go out there and build new friendships and gain new experiences. There is always something new to learn from every person that you hang out with.

And finally, how did RHP shape me into the person I am today? Being at RHP has given me a new appreciation for school, helped me understand myself, and connected me to people I will never forget. I will always value my friends, my teachers, ACE, and the family that is RHP.

I want to be the coach, teacher or mentor that can diverge someone’s path onto a successful one, even when it seems like it can only go in one direction. Coach Mo always says “attitude reflects leadership” and through these experiences, I have learned to live by that every day.

She said there is something inside chocolate that would make the human brain function better in the next few hours. This sounded very scientific to me, and plus, she was a serious and knowledgeable lady who has the power to make people believe in whatever she said. So I did believe it, and I still do now.
