After living in Senegal for thirty years, she came to the United States of America in 1994 to join her husband. She has lived in Los Angeles for twenty-three years. Bineta is the founder of Family Bridge Foundation, a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to help underprivileged women and children reach their full potential in life. Programs include emergency assistance, mentorship and tutoring, food distribution, health awareness education, youth cultural exchange, and economic empowerment in Senegal and Los Angeles.
She will be having a conversation with Kathy Hagee, Global Studies Coordinator, about her book and the issues that surround her philanthropic and advocacy work. Her book will also be available for purchase and signing. For more information, visit www.fambf.org or www.familybridgefoundation.org
The event will take place on Rolling Hills Prep and Renaissance Schools' campus in the multi-purpose room at 7:00 p.m. Tickets cost $10 for adults and $5 for students at the door. All proceeds support the Global Studies Costa Rica service learning trip.
