Nikki Millington

Hello, my name is Nikki Millington. Have you ever had a long journey before? When I came to Renaissance, I was nervous and scared to meet new students because I didn’t know if people would like me or not.  Before I came here, I got bullied in school and people didn’t like me. Then I came to this school when I was in 8th grade. It changed my life for me. When I came here, I knew I was really going to love this school, and I loved how easy it was to get around and how nice the teachers were. Also, I liked how the teachers were engaged with me on the first day of school.

On that day, I met some friends. They sometimes didn’t want to talk to me at first, but they felt more comfortable when I talked to them. In my old school, I just had one good friend. I got to know a lot more friends here. Renaissance had a different environment than I expected. People were nice to me and there was no drama at all. The teachers that I had were very good in their field.

At one point, I was convinced by Ms. Morris, Ms. Tadeo, and Coach Knigin to join the basketball team. The girls on the team were very supportive and very motivating to be around and they have always been easy to talk to. My experience with the basketball team has been excellent. I really enjoy playing for the Huskies and it made me feel even more comfortable to be a student here.  As I have gotten older, students have liked me even more. I am more comfortable talking to them now and getting to know them. Overall, I have had a great journey in the Renaissance school, and I am looking forward to continuing my journey after graduation.
