A robust music program is a very important part of the RHP experience. Inspired by the Creative Spirits component of the school's Four Pillars, the program offers many opportunities for participation in varied musical genres. Many small-group options are available, providing high quality instruction that brings out the best in students.

Music classes form a key component of the arts curriculum. In middle school, all students take a music fundamentals class that explores key concepts through a variety of methods including singing and tone chimes. Theory, harmony and note-reading are introduced while more advanced students improve their sight-reading skills. Students experience performing with a group, developing a sense of ensemble as well as the confidence needed to succeed on the stage.

Performance opportunities abound for musicians and performers of all types. Annual events showcasing student talent include International Day and Grandparents' and Friends' Day in the fall, two talent shows (or Coffee Houses), Classical Night in January and a Spring Showcase in May. The Spring Musical provides an opportunity for students to participate in a high quality theatrical production. Open to all grade levels by audition, students enjoy the opportunity to perform in San Pedro's historic Warner Grand Theater.
For the second year in a row, we are offering a middle school only musical in the spring. This year, the musical will be directed by Larry Watts of South Bay Conservatory.
