8th Grade Drama

8th Grade Drama is a trimester long course which focuses on developing acting skills through improvisation, script work, movement and vocal exercises and theatre games. Students learn to use the vocabulary of the theater and to appreciate theatre and will present monologues and scenes. Theater is a performance-based art, and all class members will participate in at least one class performance during the year. 

Students developed a personal commercial with the theme of “Why you should be my friend” through in class interviews, multiple written drafts, performing for each other, with peer and instructor feedback. In addition, students selected a monologue, which they presented in class for feedback.

All student personal commercials are included in the slide show below. Students chose to either film their personal commercial or monologue for presentation.
