Parent Resources

Welcome to the Parent Resource Page with links and information for all the things you need rapid access to on our website. Our objective is to keep you up-to-date and involved with the school.

Parents are vital to the functioning of our schools, and every parent is automatically a member of the Parent Association. Jump in and get involved! Our monthly meeting happens at 8:30 AM on the second Tuesday of each month in the Parent Association House (lower campus). Parent Association Leaders for 2011-2012 school year include: President - Monica Turner, V.P. of Grade Level Events - Teri Herbst, V.P. of Hospitality - Patty Harunk, Treasurer - Jill Weisinger, and Communications Secretary - Ann Ozawa

Look for daily and weekly updates on our Breaking News page.

The Art of Parenting

The Art of Parenting, our parent community discussion group meets twice a month on campus for parents to talk informally about their children and changes in their attitudes and behavior during adolescence. The group, facilitated by Pat Magony school counselor, was established to connect parents and help them share and learn from each other.

Past topics have included power struggles, limit setting, bullying, when to let go, choices in appearance, sexuality and your teen and more. While it is important for parents to hold a vision for their children based on personality, interests and abilities, it is extremely important that teens get a sense of who they are and feel empowered to make choices and deal with the consequences. Meetings are generally held every other week in the MPR. For the 2011-2012 meeting schedule, please check back on this webpage in the fall.

Student Well-Being Program

The Student Well-Being Program was created to provide resources to members of the school community for the purpose of promoting student wellness at school and at home. Read more about the Student Well-Being Program.

"I am willing to accept a telephone call from another parent if that parent has reason to believe my child's well-being is endangered, and I am willing to make a telephone call to another parent if I have reason to believe the well-being of that parent's child is endangered

Please consider signing the Student Well-Being Agreement and return it to the office.

Parking Lot Safety

There are a number of traffic rules and recommendations that will help ensure everyone's safety on and around campus. The procedures are simply common sense; many are required by our permit from the City. We have promised our neighbors we will indeed comply with all safety regulations.

Students and parents are required to drive very slowly (about walking pace) in and around the parking lot, as there are often many other students in the area. There is NO student drop off or parking permitted on Palos Verdes Drive North or on adjacent side streets. Do not cut through adjacent side streets. Follow directions issued at the beginning of the school year and posted on white boards regarding appropriate pick-up procedures.

NO LEFT TURN out of the campus. Drivers needing to go back up the hill must turn right, go down to the light and make a safe U-turn WHEN THE LIGHT TURNS GREEN and without crossing the yellow lines. Police do take notice. You can also turn left at the same light onto Anaheim and then left on Western.

The school monitors the use of the school parking lot and neighborhood areas surrounding the school as required by the City Conditional Use Permit (CUP). All students, parents, and visitors to campus must honor requests by school and security personnel when they are in or around the parking lot before, during, or after school, or a school-sponsored event. All vehicles that regularly enter and leave campus must have an RHP decal displayed on the outside of the rear driver's side.

Students may not park in the faculty parking lots (upper campus) in front of the school or in the football field lot. All students who drive to school must park on the road leading to our lower campus ("the hill"). Students must drive slowly (walking pace) in the lot and on the hill at all times. There is absolutely no parking in lower campus driveways at any time. Students found violating these rules will face disciplinary action and/or loss of privileges.
