The Academic Center for Excellence (ACE) is an academic support program within the RHP Student Services Office for students in grades 6-12 who have been diagnosed with learning disabilities, medical conditions and/or Attention Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorder. Eligibility is determined by performance on an individual psycho-educational evaluation or medical evaluation. The ACE program is staffed with Educational Therapists and Learning Specialists who are skilled in current strategies and techniques for assisting students in meeting the demands of RHP’s rigorous college prep curriculum. RHP teachers do not modify curriculum or adjust academic standards for ACE students or any other students.
ACE provides 4.5 hours a week of academic support. Students receive individual guidance and instruction. The program usually maintains a one-to-two or one-to-one ratio between Learning Specialists and students to ensure an intense level of support. ACE students also attend RHP’s After School Program (ASP) at a significantly reduced cost. Eligible ACE students receive accommodations through the Student Services Office including extended time on examinations, reduced distraction testing environment, use of computer, enlarged text materials, readers, audio books, and scribes.

ACE students are taught to understand their unique learning strengths and weaknesses—and to use their strengths to overcome or compensate for areas of weakness. Our aim is that ACE students become confident and successful members of the RHP community.
