Welcome to the School News part of our website. My name is Melinda Alcott, and I'm at the school's front desk to greet parents and students, to answer the phones and any questions you have, and to make sure we have accurate attendance records.

This section of our website is where our families come to find out all the information that helps with everyday school life. This is where we post news that can change from day to day or week to week. So, please, make this a resource for you and your student.

The School News section includes:

• Breaking news
• The school calendar
• Sports schedules and results
• Lunch menus, bus schedules, and after school program information
• Directions to places our students play sports and perform
• Information about volunteering at the school and in the community
• The most recent and archived Friday letters
• Packing lists for Outdoor Education trips (posted in late summer, early fall)
• Summer reading lists (posted in late spring)
• Teacher web pages (with current information and homework posted)

Below are a few guidelines to help you understand our attendance process better.

When your child will be out of school:
Please call me at 310-791-1101 ext. 150, first thing in the morning, preferably before 8:30 AM. We need to know why he/she is out (illness, medical/dental appointment, vacation, etc.) for our attendance records. If you leave a voicemail message, please state your child's full name, grade and reason he/she will be out of school.

If your child will be out for any length of time longer than that day, please call me each morning and contact your child's Advisor.

When your child is tardy, arriving anytime after 8:00 AM:
He/she must come to the office and sign-in.

When your child needs to be excused to leave before the end of the school day (medical/dental appointment, college visit, etc.):
Please contact the school with a written note as far in advance as possible or contact me by phone. Students are required to wait in the office until their parent comes into the office to sign them out.

If you have any changes to your Emergency Form or contact information, please click here to email me, call me at the office and/or send that information to the office; this includes address, phone number(s), e-mail address, employer contact information, etc.

My son Jordan graduated from Prep in '03, and I really enjoy being part of the community here at Prep. I look forward to continuing to work with all of you.
