As a direct descendant of baseball, softball is perhaps more tied to the concept of teamwork than any other sport. At RHP, the players push themselves but - whether at practice or when the umpire calls "Play ball," they also have fun.

Last season RHP's softball team won all but three games, qualifying them for the CIF championships for the third year in a row. They have a strong group of club players coming up from Middle School, so they expect to be even stronger during the season ahead.

Head Coach Ben Pasco is a San Pedro business owner and head coach of the Harbor Heat, a club team that competes nationally. He has a great deal of coaching experience and emphasizes that to win, players must challenge themselves continually.

Assistant Coach Natalia Trites is an RHP alum who was selected for the all-League and all-CIF teams while at RHP. Matt Garland serves as a volunteer assistant, working with the outfielders and calling pitches during the games.

The team plays at the San Pedro softball complex, within sight of the RHP campus. It's an excellent facility, with team members able to practice and use the batting cages and other equipment to refine their skills.

Athletic Director Brian Knigin says "I am very pleased with the direction the program is moving. We are very competitive and the program is run extremely well. From warm-ups to uniforms to student spirit, it's a great team."
