Soccer is a great game for building stamina as well as concentration and strategy. Our soccer players have fun while building technical development, teamwork and sportsmanship.
During the late '90s the school fielded a co-educational team that was League champion in '96-97, '97-98, and '98-99. Now we have Varsity and middle school teams that routinely make the championships and play their home games at our beautiful new campus on our state-of-the-art soccer field.
One team member commented "Our team has bonded really well. We are friends both on and off the field so we work really well as a team. We're all really close and we help each other improve. We love to have new people join the team and we treat everyone like friends."

The girls' soccer team has a winning record and has finished every season having bonded as a successful team. They were Harbor League champion in '03-04, and have continued their successful record with additional League championships during the past few years.
Varsity girls' head coach Stephanie Richards is in her first year at the helm of the husky soccer program. Coach Richards is a local south bay resident with a wealth of experience coaching soccer on the youth level. She was a 3-year varsity soccer player at Torrance High School and we are fortunate to have her leading the girls' soccer program.
Assistant Coach Fallon Johnson is also in her first year as the assistant for the girls' soccer program. Coach Johnson was a 4-year varsity soccer player at South Torrance High School and played collegiately at USC. She brings an expertise in skill development and player relations.
The boys' soccer program was on hiatus for a time but returned in '08-09. The team is dominated by freshmen and sophomores so we are excited about its future.
To lead the rebuilding effort Ryan Boccuzzi RHP physics teacher and former collegiate player at Colby College is coaching the team. Coach Boccuzzi is a tremendous developer of talent as well as a student of the game. Practice is based on fundamentals and teamwork. Improvement is made daily with Coach Boccuzzi's unique ability to communicate and teach the game of soccer.

The no-cut policy is an attractive feature of middle school boys' and middle school girls' soccer. This approach means everyone gets to play. As with the upper school teams, middle school soccer builds a host of winning features in the students, features that will allow them to pursue soccer at the upper school level.
The girls team was South Bay Middle School League champion almost every year from '99 to '08, and in '07, the boys and girls both won their divisions of the South Bay Middle School League.
Sarah Schoettle has been coaching boys' and girls' middle school soccer since 2003. Sarah attended College Hobart and William Smith College , where she played varsity squash and Division 3 tennis. She believes that soccer is a great sport because it gives students a high confidence level about learning to be on a team and the no-cut policy gives everyone a chance to play.
