Baseball is an all-American sport for a reason. It combines sportsmanship, athletic ability, strategy and teamwork. Aside from the fun of the game, RHP has coaches who are trained to teach basic baseball skills and the importance of believing in oneself.
The Husky baseball team has consistently finished at the top of its League and made the playoffs. In 2006-07 the team was Harbor League Champion, and in 2008 the Huskies finished the season with 12 wins and played in the C.I.F. playoffs.
Will Bougille has coached the team since 1998 and has been head coach since 2001. He attended Cal State Northridge and Whittier College, and is also head coach and founder of the South Bay Rockies, a club team based in South Bay. According to Athletic Director Brian Knigin, "Baseball is his passion. This is a guy that eats, drinks, sleeps baseball. He has a great loyalty to the school and does a wonderful job with the team."
The Assistant Coach is alumni parent Matt Trites. Knigin says "He can't stay away from the game - he's still playing in an adult baseball league. His great knowledge of the game and tremendous enthusiasm create a special rapport with the players."
The RHP Huskies play at Navy Field, at Palos Verdes Drive North and Western, which they share with Lomita Little League. Prep has made improvements to make it very fan-friendly and it's a great place to watch a game.
