Arts Overview

An essential element of our curriculum, all RHP and Renaissance students participate in arts rotations in middle school and a minimum of two full years of art at the upper school level, with four years encouraged. Our visual and performing arts offer safe environments for exploration where the focus is on individual expression, artistic process and creative problem solving through skill building. The program follows a multi-year sequence with each year building on the previous guiding students toward personal growth and creative independence.

The schools provide ample opportunities for students to be creatively involved in and out of the classroom setting. Coffee Houses, Classical Night and One-Act evenings complement traditional main-stage drama and musical productions in both the upper and middle schools. Students participate in our award-winning publications, including the yearbook and the all-school literary magazine. Students who love the outdoors and nature have the opportunity to work in our organic garden and outdoor kitchen in our horticulture and culinary arts classes. Courses are taught by instructors who are accomplished artists, musicians, and performers in their own right, as well as being committed, professional educators. All art students participate in art field trips to our outstanding local museums, galleries, and art openings and attend special events and workshops presented by guest artists.
