Apply to RHP

We look forward to working with you to make applying to RHP as easy as possible. The purpose of the admission process is to identify a good fit between school and student in order to bring together a student body committed to personal and community growth.
Our goal at RHP is to enroll young people, grades 6-12, who demonstrate academic ability and motivation, intellectual curiosity, and good citizenship. In making its decision, the Admission Committee considers:
  • A student’s past school record
  • Recommendations from teachers and other adults
  • Results of the Independent School Entrance Examination (ISEE)
  • Evidence of talent and interest in outside activities, such as leadership, artistic strength, athletic ability, and community involvement.
Summer Deadline – Extended to July 20, 2018: We’ve extended our application deadline to July 20 for limited spaces still available in Grades 6–10 for Rolling Hills Prep and 6-9 for Renaissance School. Applications must be submitted by July 20 for priority review and interview scheduling; supplemental documents can be turned in after the application has been submitted. We are currently reviewing applications in the order in which they are completed. Applications will not be reviewed by the Admissions Committee until all supplemental documentation has been received.

Step 1: Complete the Online Application

To apply to RHP, please use the request more information form, which can also be found on the left side of this screen. Our admissions team will then provide you with the application and instructions.

You will be prompted to create an online account and complete the application together as a family. Once the online application is submitted, there are additional supplemental documents required for each student, as detailed below.

International students have a slightly different process, visit the International page for more information. 

Step 2: Application Fee

The non-refundable application fee is $125 and must be submitted electronically with your application.

Step 3: Teacher Recommendations

Print and submit the teacher recommendation forms for English and Math and the transcript request form to the student's current school administration. The recommendation must come from the student’s current teacher.

Step 4: References

Please print and submit the personal reference form to an appropriate reference. References can be a teacher, mentor, coach, tutor, or other adult who can speak to the student’s character, strengths, and weaknesses, but should not be a family relative. 

Step 5: Admissions Tests

RHP requires all applicants to submit scores from the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE). Our school code is 054151. Click here to register for the ISEE. The test should be taken as soon as possible as scores are a required part of the admission application. RHP is currently scheduling individual ISEE examinations for all applicants as a part of the summer application process.
For students with a diagnosed learning difference who will need classroom or testing accommodations (provided through our Academic Center for Excellence (ACE) at an additional charge), families must submit full educational testing, IEP, and/or 504 plan reporting to the Admission Office as part of the application process. Families must also submit a "Release of Information" form that allows our schools to call and speak with educational therapists or other identified specialists that have worked with the student so we can best determine if we are able to meet their accommodations.

Step 6: Additional Interviews and Visits

Upon receipt of your Application for Admission, we will contact you to schedule required interviews and/or visits. Due to scheduling restraints, interviews and Shadow Days are currently reserved for families who have submitted their Application for Admission.

Step 7: Admission Decisions

All first-round admission decision dates have now passed.

We are continuing to electronically send Upper and Middle School decisions on a rolling, weekly basis as applications are completed and reviewed. Once an application is completed, the family will typically receive an admission decision within 2 – 3 weeks. After an admission decision and enrollment contract is sent out to a family, accepted students will have two weeks to submit their deposit and enrollment contract before their spot is released.

In extremely limited cases, families may be offered a spot in our wait pool depending upon available spaces within each grade. It is important to note that we do not rank students in our wait pool and that enrollment continues through August for RHP and Renaissance.
